i seen a bit of light brown colour oil on the engine oil cap and a bit on the rad cap its not fully mixed the car hasnt over heated and when i check the oil in the dip stick its clean
does this indicate that its on its way or is it leakin a bit is there any product i can use to fix this or stop it from leaking ?
i know i need to get the head gasket done otherwise
how long does this job take to do can it be done yourself

Hi
It does sound like there is a bit of leakage somewhere.
There isn't enough evidence to say where it could be though. Have you had the pistons checked for compression yet?
You don't mention what the specs on your car are either.
M10? M42? Engine

hmm, sounds like it may be a head issue rather than a gasket..
the 885 head found in the 325i has a habit of cracking if not looked after properly.
I'd try flushing out and replacing the coolant, so you can see if it gets oily quickly..
As for fixing it- are you keeping the car? if not, PM e30beemerlad- he knows a product you can bung in the coolant to seal it temporarily
good luck and let us know what you find

the thing is i checked the coolant didnt show any signs of it when i took the rocker cover off it showed quite a bit on the back of the rocker cover
when i check the dipstick there was only a dot of it on there but the rest of the oil is ok
how long does that temporary thing last?
is there any other way of repairing a cracked head. it couldnt be the gasket leaking from a small spot

i certainly reccomend it
if it can handle lee for over a year and several months of me hammering the car too then its spot on
and for £7/£8 theres no better fix in my oppinion

not sure if halfords do it but worth checking
most motor factors i go to have it on the shelf somewhere tho
was put in lees 325i then driven very hard for over 18months by lee and then myself and not once did she show any signs of overheating etc as she had prior to using this stuff
worked a treat
