Evening everyone. I seem to be bombarded with "whens your sport gonne be finished?" and "hows your sport coming along?" every time someone speaks to me, so for anyone who's asked me this in the last month or so, feel free to take a look. click the link. at the bottom and have a lookies.
Today was a bit of fun taking the rear subframe off (joy of joys). I want to replace the brake and fuel lines before she gets her first MOT since being off the road, so I dont want any advisories on the slip..just a clean pass. I figured that when i did that, it would also be efficient to do the rear bushes (all of them) so the subframe came out and the trailing arms off. on order this week will be a diff bush, some mounting bolts and a lot of Shutz underbody sealant.
anyway, today was about as fun as a rectal inspection with a cricket bat! neither subframe bush wanted to let go and i had visions of me shearing the carrier sheath in the body of the car it was so tight! EVENTUALLY, it came out (avec swearing).
Next was the fuel tank. i feared the worst after seeing so many rotten tanks in my young years. I was extatic to find that my tank has no rust on the top where i couldnt see. woohoo! its got a bit of love and is ready to go back in with new hoses/pipes now.
if you take a look at the pics, the car is not resting on the mtech kit, its resting on the chassis, its just the pic that looks scary!
enjoy!

Scott, I'm seriously jealous of that car, good to see a tech 1 in all its glory, rather than the sorry heap of iron oxide I've been ripping to pieces all day. Maximum respect for saving the car!

Whose is the Green Sand 1974 Sovereign/XJ? Looks like a tidy one.
The Daimler Sovereign is my dads. I thought it was fcuking horrible when i first laid eyes on it. I quite like it now - its got bags character..... and no front subframe!

It was rotten to the core sadly. If I were a little thinner I could probably crawl out of the car via the cavity where the inner wheel arches once lived.
That said, it turns out it has been chipped, i think its a superchip? and the cam may well be uprated too. So even more morsels to go on my car.
Good luck with the rest of the work on the car, not much left to do by the looks of it. Are you going to be at the Ace tomorrow?

front sub still here...... just not ON the car - we took it off to do the suspension and bushes ages ago but we never got round to finishing it. im gonna aset aside some time in my week off in september and again in october to help my dad with his car after all the work hes done to help me with mine (except where he nearly set fire to the fcuking thing!)

Scott, you sick deviant , i couldn't help noticing as i scrolled through the photos a 205 litre P40 drum, it looked nearly empty, does that mean you have the only tech 1 in captivity with jacking points and inner sills ?

Cars looking good, but it would be a crime to put that back seat in it. It should go where it belongs, in a four door.
Preferably mine
How much do you want for it
Preferably mine

I was wondering how long it would take someone to spot that. I posted the pic up to sort of highlight that shes still not perfect or finished (like the missing rear subframe didnt tell you that already).Martinaston wrote:Cars looking good, but it would be a crime to put that back seat in it. That rear bench is immaculate. Its been re-collonised and treated to a severe amount of love!!! If you can find me a 2door rear bench in similar(ish) quality, i'll do you a straight swap! You certainly wont be disapointed with the finish or quality of the leather.

Lookin' good Scott, mine's gonna need lots of loving too but not the kind of cash you've spunked on yours!
Tell me, what is conollising and how does it work, how much does it cost and where in London is a recommended place?
