Sunny's Evo 2 M3!
Moderator: martauto
Different kettle of fish.
S3 Maybe be fast but driver experience might be boring 4wheel drive is quite boring to safe. Would be good for everyday car.
M3 raw race car for the road. Makes a good weekend toy. Not really for daily use but i've heard of people using them daily.
I'm sure nav bought an S3 and is on the look out for an M3

Like i said in my PM, cant really comment without driving the S3 but they are very different cars.
The S3 is a road car - quiet, comfortable, fast and practical.
The M3 was designed specifically to race. Its noisy, relatively impractical, expensive to maintain and sluggish at low revs.
It really depends what you actually want mate. If you want a run of the mill road car with a bit of go thats safe and easy to drive round town the S3 would be a fine choice.
If you want a road racer that stands out and can deliver more driver satisfaction than almost anything on the road the M3 is the car for you.
Im only young but iv been lucky enough to drive all kind of fast cars from MR2 turbo's and e46 M3's all the way up to a 911 turbo.
None of them give me the same sense of all round satisfaction that my M3 does.
I love the fact that an 8k car gets more respect than 95% of cars on the road, regardless of cost.
I love being able to drive it to a race track, embaress cars that cost 3 times as much then take it to pick up the shopping on the way home.
Most of all i love knowing it can hang onto virtually ANYTHING down a country lane
If these things dont appeal to you an M3 is the wrong choice.

Good point you aint the only one when my dads giveing it some down some lane. I'd be the first to get it coming round a corner so i close my eyes. Was so close to a mondeo the other week bout gave me a heart attack. Bet you aint no wimp when it comes to a track day. You up for a trip to the ring next year?

Afraid im still a wuss when im on track. Same problem really, im always thinking about what will happen if something goes wrong!
I dont do track days to prove anything to anyone, i do them to learn the car, improve my driving and have a good laugh using the car for what its ment to be used for.
Yes im up for a ring trip. Im going in november but next summer would be good

There are down sides (only if you use the car as a daily driver)
The S14 is a very noisy engine, sounds crap at idle IMO
You cant really leave one anywhere - they are a magnet for the scum of this world
Expensive to maintain and even more expensive when they go wrong
Not much pull at low revs - you wont be winning any traffic light duel's!
Im sure someone will be along to correct me on all these things but iv used mine as a daily for a year and these are my only frustrations.

Hehe, to me that doesn't sound like much downsides. When i get one its gonna be a weekend car most likely for fun and playing about. Gary sed they only have their full potential at high revs. But bloomin heck his takes off. Sounded ace too with a miltek exhaust.
Argh iv got M3's on the brain.lol.

This is Sunny's old car. Unfortunatly not getting to use it much due to work and changed personal circumstances. Doubt I've done 500 miles in it since September!
Just had service 1 carried out and it runs and sounds sweet. Its a great car and got great provenance as I am sure Sunny will endorse.
