Pics of E30'swith smoked headlights please
Moderator: martauto
You can get them from ebay, £130 + £15 p&p from germany, ill let you know about light when ive fitted them.
I cant see that night driving will really be affected as you are going from old dirty units to new smoked clean units and they are approved.

Night time driving isnt affected at all - the smoked effect is done by trick of the light, the lamps work exactly as non smoked lamps.oscar300 wrote:Is night time driving badly affected? I thought they were DIY??
There are genuine Hella smoked lamps, but I dont know if they are still available. DIY is the cheap way and can look just as good, if you take the time to do them well.

DIY all the way, look at my tech article in the articles section. these are now over 18months old and no problems with them, as said take your time and they will look as good as the real thing. here are some pics, with the tech2 on is 18 months old, without the tech2 is when i first did em.
also a couple next to nonsmoked for comparison.
and the nighttime is not affected, read the article it explains how they work. note thay look darker from cetain angles especially the main beam lights but the effect is certainly noticable

make one out of galvonised metal, 1 or 2mm, cut it out with tin snips and finish with a grinding wheel, then glue the two pieces together to get the cross hair shape. for a template i used a piece of cardboard, but somwhere on this zone is a pdf file from RV3 that gives the exact size, but i cannot find it on my computer, check with simon i thought he had the file. What I don't get in the tech article is the 'Thingy' How do I make one?
