constant live fo sterio

my memory keeps going when the car is turned off, does any 1 know if there is a constant power source to the car sterio? i have got a sony head unit, i have been told i could use the power from the ciggy lighter but im not too keen in this. Im hopless at diy

you could take the feed from the clock, there should already be a bmw loom for the radio anyway - its a green/red wire,
the bmw loom goes into behind the glovebox
(heh ive learnt a lot about bmw looms today....)

the car permanent live should be grey/red - this is supplied in the loom for just the stereo and hence won't have to supply anything else. check this with a multi-meter or a bulb. if you can't find this then i'd recommend feeding a wire from the battery positive terminal via a fuse rather than branching from something else.

I used the wire from my glove box/torch charger. Works a charm.
