Any recommendations?
I want one similar to the Bilstein PSS9 set up.
Adjustable rear spring platform.

FK do a set, though I changed mine as it wouldn't go low enough for track work... ended up swapping them for a 60mm Spax pair... much better now.

Spax weren't no. The FK setup was an adjustable spring platform that sat in the same place as the original spring.

I'd assumed any adjustable platform would use standard dimension springs.
Can the Spax platforms be bought seperately?

I'm not sure about the best place for FK stuff as I bought mine from a local after-market accessory place.
The Spax springs were just fixed 60mm units. NOT adjustable.
I bought the whole FK coilover set, and the front I can get in the weeds, but the rears just wouldn't lower the car enough. I could only get it down to about 50mm... which wasn't low enough. The rear srpings weren't the same as normal springs, as they were a slightly different shape at the bottom to fit around the thread of the adjustable platform.
Scott325SE now has these units... I sold them to him.

Do you know if FK sell the platforms/springs seperately, as I don't want to buy a full kit.
Could you not have used a shorter spring Giles? If they'll only take FK springs, is there a poor choice available?

Why do you want adjustable - just get the height you want.
Are you going to spend time adjusting up and down - I think not. Adjustable 'sounds' great down the pub but in reality they never get touched.
I have got adjustables (rear coilovers) on my racer BUT they never get moved once it is setup correctly (corner weights etc).
Get -40mm to -60mm anything lower is a waste of time as the rear drive shafts are at the wrong angle for max transmition of energy.
Looks good but nothing else.

Different ride heights required for different surfaces (gravel or tarmac), also different sized rims used for gravel and tarmac.
I agree that for a circuit car a correct set up is just that. Very, very different for a rally car that will compete on different surfaces, sometimes in the same day.
I wont be going anywhere near -60mm, somewhere around standard height with 17" rims will be nearer the mark.

rear coilovers are no good for you as too much strain will be placed on the rear attachment point (ok for circuit but rally - no way).
I have seen a number of spring adjusters in Demon Tweeks (tend to be on the expensive side). You may be able to speak with LEDA as I am sure they do spring height adjusters (normal type).

I have seen strengthened lower mounts for coil overs and we've considered it, but if one did fail, losing damper and spring together could be very dangerous.karlp wrote:Understand your problem.

A PSS9 kit is our preferred 'off the shelf' choice, but the front struts don't have enough fully extended travel as they're designed for cars with lowered suspension set ups. Bilstein apparently don't sell the rear adjusters seperately.
Any comments from experience with E30 rear height adjusters would be handy.
