Hey,

This light has been coming on and stays on since I bought her a few months ago, ive not noticed any problem with the brakes or performance. The guy I bought it from said it was just a sensor, but then the guy fitting the tyres last week it aint a sensor thats the problem its an ABS light and said this is a definite MOT fail and very costly.

Can somebody give me advice on either:
How to turn the light off or what the problem is so that itll pass the MOT. Any idea of cost or can i fix it myself?

Sound like a sensor but could also be a number of other faults.
Post this up in tech help section and someone should be able to help there

It's not ABS, it's your brake pad wear light. Your pads are getting low.

I thought initially it was the brakes worn, but then i heard its the sensor probably out a common fault. But the mechanic had a quick look, said that this light in the pic is not a brake light but an ABS light. He also connected a wire to one of the sensors that was out on the back right side and he said this would solve the issue usually, but then when he looked again he said this is an ABS light a big job so im unsure! I dont know whether replacing the pads will send this light off as i think its somethin else!

This is the brake pad wear sensor light.

The ABS light says 'ABS' on it.

Yeah this is the brake pad sensor.
Mine had started going on and off the odd time, stuck new pads on the car and problem solved.
Have a look in your owners handbook and it shows what these warning lights mean.

Funny thing is the car went through the NCT with the light on and passed no problem, they didnt even comment.

There are the 2 pad sensors. all i did on mine was get an old sensor of some old pads and connect it up.

The light will not aftect the workings of the brakes, nor is it an MoT fail.
