Similar problem, but usually the somethin else is a little bit more on the plus side so thats cool!stuartgallafant wrote:says what it wants to say really! sometimes i'll be driving it and look down and see its dropped by loads. then i'll stop the car and get out and whatever, then go back to the car, start it, drive off, and it says something else!!!
An easy fix u say?

My understanding was that the light comes on once you get to your reserve which should last 40km/24miles? Seems about right, my light works and once it goes on I can drive to work in the city about 35 kms away without having to refuel. The first thing I would check if you don't think its working would be the globe (need to remove instrument cluster for this). If the globe is fine and the instrument cluster is out you then might want to have a look at the actual circuit board and check its undamaged. Maybe check the fuel sender unit and replace? Just some ideas.. hope they help

My E34's fuel gauge is quite honest, I believe it enjoys mocking me with its heavy drinking problem, (running stupidly rich) but the temp gauge is away with the fairies 50% of the time

Finally promoted to Regular! Only took 7 years...
