I need an alarm too. Any chance of a group buy?
I've taken my old one out mate, guy I got the car off had lost the fobs and I was quoted Ԛ£120 for 2 new fobs, I can get a new alarm for that can't I, at least I know it'll work!!

Has, apparently good random code technology so can't be 'cloned' by some low-life near you when you park and arm.
Anybody fitted one of these? - any hints/tips/this bit'll make you swear a lot etc gratefully received.
Treeman612
ps unit cost Ԛ£45 plus Ԛ£10 postage direct from manufacturer in Singapore.

Hmm -not bad at all- easy to fit and does what it say's is on the tin - instructions basic to say the least, aimed at installers- don't wire in the 4 pin connector cable which connects the top of the loom (green, blue, brown, violet) if you run E30 with c/l and dead-locking which works. The dead-locking circuitry in the c/l c/u (wot? central locking control unit) tells the alarm about door open/close status, so no need 4 the built-in central locking system. If you ain't got c/l or immobilser, you can retro-fit it with this - so far, so goood!

Sorry, forgot - took 2 of us (1 electronic engineer 2nd class and me) about 5 hours to fit (sequential wiring test blew 30A fuse and damaged c/b solder track cos we connected the alarm c/l c/u not realising BMW c/l supplier had already built in the circuitry but not used it. Worth an hour off the install time cos it f***ed the hazard light circuit.) Laughed a lot when fitting so maybe 30 more minutes off the install? yee ha.....

Arghhhhh!! Who said GAP security! Don't even bother, they use local alarm fitting centres around the country, charge double (no bullshit) for the privilige, and then to keep the warranty valid you've got to get the alarm serviced annually at a cost of Ԛ£117!!!!
Better off going straight to your local security centre.

I have a clifford concept 300 fitted. Best thing with these alarms is you can upgrade bits on them. Thatcham Cat 1. I had the proximity sensor fitted as my car is a cab. Get too close and it "barks" at you!!!
I really like clifford alarms and have never had any problems with them

I need an imobiliser to make my insurance people happy... Obviously I'd prefer a full alarm system, but I cannae afford hundreds... Is fitting one myself & getting it inspected by an installer the best way? Or shall I just go with an immobiliser installed by them?
Any recommendations on cheap-ish ones either way?

Anyone on here good at identifying alarms??
I pulled a clifford out of my breaker, managed to pull the whole lot out in one piece, it's got a proximity sensor, it's got a huge black box, and a weird small box with G4 written on it, and like a small aerial coming out of it.

I've seen some Toad pro cl's on ebay at Ԛ£69 and the Ai606 at Ԛ£120 and have been looking at getting one, the pro cl can be upgraded to total closure with an additoinal standard relay apparently which would be cool.

Ebay is probably the easiest place to buy an alarm. What is "total closure"??

You can leave your car with the electric windows (sunroof??) open and hit the arm button and it will lock the doors, do the windows up and maybe shut the sunroof.
I say maybe on the sunroof as I don't know how the alarm would know if the roof was tilited up or slid back.
I'm going to buy one and find out.
