Wheres the best place to buy brake pads? Its for a 318 IS with discs at the back. Are the pads the same as on a 318i? or are the brakes different.

Cheers.

Yeah, might try my local. Will see. Cheers. Reason i was askin if the 318i were the same as the IS is that i have a set for the front lying in my garage but not sure they will work.

Hammo, if you're close to a GSF or Euro and want OEM standard pads then they're great... especially GSF 'cause they give BMWCC members a 10% discount and you don't even have to show your card (they used to give out a discount card - I have one - but my local GSF in Kinning Park don't even ask for it), so whether you're a member or not just brass neck it and get your 10% off.

BMW dealers also give 10% off for BMWCC members but they usually ask for the card (Douglas Park in Hamilton don't ask me anymore, they all know me by name and pull up my 'account details' without ever asking anymore). You can try BMW, sometimes their prices will surprise you - sometimes in a bad way, sometimes a good way :D

o no u cant! GSF no longer do them, neither do MSW. Euro carparts mite, but GSF have super seeded them with "mintex extreme" which are more expensive and not as good iv told.

iv got my hands on the last set of fast road pads in the country from GSF hopefully, an they are not even on there system!!

You can buy from GSF on their website and get 'em delivered, or over the phone...http://www.gsfcarparts.com/

I'm currently using EBC Green Stuff but I'm not overly impressed by them - very wooden when cold, get a bit better but still not much feel when hot and then fade after 5 laps on the track! Not impressed. :? One of the alternatives I was recommended was the Mintex pads, so let me know how you get on!

Have heard this from so many people!

are they mintex extremes hammoj? these are the ones that haev allegedaly superseded the pagids, would be interesting to know what they are like!

if they are mintex 1144/1155 then they are apaprenlty superb pads

they re quite new Oz! and 15 quid more than pagids so i dont think they are that bad

if youv got the wonga, mintex 1144 at 60 quid form motorsport world is the best bet really unless you want to spend a oner on ferrodo!

im pretty sure they are not illegal. teh 1155 and 1166 are illegal i think but tbh whos going to know? the police and MOT testers dont take your brakes of to inspect them so i dont see the logic in it but thats just my opinion.

i remember si ranting about the 44's i wanted a set badly but can not justify 60 dollars of my already tight bank balance on them; i would go for them Oz

Baillieston, not far from you.

I see Neil quite a lot (I work in Blantyre so easy to meet up after work).

It was the 1144/1155's I was recommended, I assume the 1144's are the equivalent of the EBC Green Stuff - road/track legal pads and the 1155 & 1166 are the Red & Black Stuff equivalent - track only (at least the latter is). The only time this'd be a problem is if you are involved in a smash and the inspector takes a look at your brakes, could invalidate your insurance. As I use my car mostly on the road with the rare on-track excursion I'll be sticking to the road/track pads, so maybe 1144's next :D

It'll probably tell you on their website
