Evening guys
I consider myself to be very handy with the spanners but for the life of me can't see how you remove the upright parts of the rear seat on a touring

The bottom is very easy with the spring clips but i can see no visible fixings for the other parts! Can someone please tell me how you remove them?
Cheers Spadge...

hey spadge
i think you have to remove the side bolsters of the rear seats to gain access to the fixings for the main part. these are held by a 10 mm bolt at the bottom and slide upwards after you you have removed the bolt.there may be more to it but its dark outside so no point looking at mine.if you have no joy from other members ill have a better look in the mornin and get back to ya
p.s. still interested in that tailgate but dont want to commit till i know ive got time to collect it.if it sells in the meantime, so be it

No longer self employed but still available for welding duties.

Mat - I've removed the side bolsters already and can see the hinge pins for the two halves of the back rest but can't work out how to remove it?
Bootlid/tailgate is still here if you want it just let me know as soon as you can.
oze30 yes i'll be continuing the stripping of this car all day as i need it off my drive.
Cheers guys

Have you tried pulling the seat backs out and sideways at the same time, they just pull out if you take them by suprise.

just been out to have a look at mine and ive got a feeling that you have to unbolt them from underneath the car. i could be wrong but this does ring a bell (although it was 14 years since i was at the dealers)
p.s. will you be in all day thursday too? will come for the tailgate if so

Managed to work it out now
Fold the 2 halves down flat and there is a black rail running the length of the 2 halves at the bottom. At either end there is a spring bar thing that you just lever out slightly and then the whole thing just lifts straight upwards as there are hooks at either end and in the middle.
