I would have thought if anything they would make it run slightly leaner as you are getting more air in ?dc wrote:WAS READIN BOUT IT IN TBMW,R THEY WORTH IT,OR CAN THEY CAUSE OVERFUELING PROBS

yeh they can help against rich problems, however i doubt this is an issue, as the air flow meter will measure the air flow anyway and fuel accordingly
however on WOT position it can help against rich running probs-which i think is a problem on most old 325s

I was thinking about engine mods on my 18.i, but i think i might as wlel save up and then get an IS later in the year, insurance wont be MUCH more. And the M42 with a BBTB, Chip etc will be a lot more worthwhile i think. Be interesting to know if it would give an improvement on an M40 1.8 tho

just been looking at insurance for a 318is and 325, and 325 is probably out of the question, but TESCO, on my 318i at 19 its only Ԛ£675!!
Thats we me as the main driver, put my missis' on it and that made it lower aswell, not that she's gona drive it, lol
The best bit, changed the car details to an Is and it was only Ԛ£25 more!!!
Now i want an iS

Yeh their dosnt seem to be that much of a difference mate.Im waiting till my 18th in September and them im going to have my brothers IS , or if he dosnt sell it to get a sport, ill get one off here.
Thing is, my 1.8i aint that slow. But the is has a lot more potential. Put an LSD, BBTB, chip, induction kit ,and a nice exhuast system and youll have a quick car!Im sure it could catch up with a standard Sport on a track no probs. And they retain their value a lot more

sam. if your gonna look at a sport at 18, what have you got for insurance quotes?
i know it was a bit of pain for me to start with getting the sport at 18.
you'll probably need 1 year no claims bonus and definatley 1 years driving experience.
give PRIVILEGE a go, they were the only ones that gave me a decent quote on the sport.

Nice one Chris, ill check them out. I think it might make more sense money wise (ie insurance) to get an is this year, and just do some nice things to it and have a quick little motor. Then maybe next summer get a sport. Ive only been driving my 1.8 a month or two and i already think its slow lol.
Cheers for the link mate

i'll second the clio remark. they are fun to chuck about but slow as a snail in reverse.
i thought the same but i think that the insurance for an is was about 1400 and the sport was about 1850, both fully comp, plus i had the money to spare for the sport anyway so for me it was worht the extra. you may not have the money lying around.
it's up to you at the end of the day and the "is" is a great car too as it has better handling and econemy than the sport.
no probs for the link...happy to help

I do the 318 models as well. You will also notice a much smoother idle and better low speed running. This is because, I also seal up all the leaks and fit new seals. This is particulary noticeable on the 325's
