Grrr. I'm on an eBay losing streak. I've been watching this item for a almost a week and wanted it painfully badly.

http://cgi.ebay.de/e30-BMW-M-technik-2- ... dZViewItem

(For those of you who don't know, MTech hatch spoilers are NLA from BMW and good used ones are about as rare as hen's teeth.)

The bidding had been idle for several days and for a foolish second I thought that all the other bidders had forgotten or dropped out. I set my maximum pretty high and saved my bid until the last few seconds of the auction. Well that strategy didn't work--I was outbid by one friggin' Euro!

Anyone have any sure-fire techniques for bidding? I've heard that there are services that you can hire that have a system that will bid on your behalf in the last fraction of a second. Anyone know if they work?

The MTech version is about twice as deep as the dinky one that comes standard on the Touring. Inches count, baby!

what you wonna do mate is....... if u want the item really really bad, say if the item is £50 worth in the real world, i normally whack in a stupid bid like £150. no one will match that!

Until someone else does the same thing and whoever sets the highest ends up paying a small fortune for it.. (mobile phone for £2400 for example, m8 of mine) not a good idea imo. If you really want it decide what your absolute maximum is and add £20 or so. If you don't get it then someone else decided it was worth more.
