Ever since i replaced my top hose, the coolant warning light has been on. I was told this is cos it needed bleeding...

Well i had it bled during the MOT, and yet the light is still on but the coolant level seems fine and the car is running perfectly.

Does the warning light /senser need to be reset or something??

Cheers,

Nick

Mine done that before and then i just replaced the coolant with new stuff and kept an eye on the levels to be sure and then it just went off by itself.....sometimes the light comes on randomly without reason but this has stopped now

The coolant levels have been fine since the bleed... just annoying having the check light flashing all the time.... doesn't look good!

Did they definitely bleed it properly? If the heater doesn't get as hot as it used to, that's a sign...

It's incredibly easy to do yourself. Can get details if needed...

I hope they did it properly haha.... how can i check, surely if they don't do it properly the coolant level would've dropped as the air gets pushed through the system?

the coolant bleeding and the light are not linked at all!!! Assuming you mean the light on the overhead check panel. the light is simply connected to a dipstick in your coolant bottle that lets you know when the coolant in the bottle is lower then the bottom of the sensor. if you fill the bottle up with water the light should go out irregardless if the system is bled or not. normally these sensors pack in if they are allowed to dry out, some start working again but most dont. check by removing the collant bottle and sensor, unplug the wires and short out the two pins, your light should go out. if it does you need a new sensor.

bleeding an M20 is a different matter and if not done will lead to overheating and a warped head, get it right by follwing bentley or even Haynes manuals.

Cheers Mrlee and every1!

Helpful as always.... will check the sensor.... when the top hose blew i was topping up every 30mins or so, so the sensor may well have dried out and died then.

Thank you all! :)
