Ok, where do most people go for genuine BMW parts?
I have looked at the GSF, EuroCP web sites but it's hard to work out what's the origional qaulity part apart from the 'oe'.
Is there a list of manufacs for service parts etc, can we make one up for the tech section or frequently asked questions.
I think it would be worth the effort.
Thanks
Lee

The first place you should check is the dealer. Sometimes parts are quite reasonably priced!

Best place for genuine parts is the main dealer, their prices aren't as steep as most people think.
It's always best to get a part number before you go into the parts department though as a lot of them don't know their way around E30's so have a look on here first http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do
Enter the last 7 digits from your chassis number and it'll select the relevant parts for your car.
I've noticed a hell of a lot of genuine BMW parts going on ebay for up to 10 times there list price, M sport seat badges for instance go for £20+ with postage but are £2.50 from the dealer
Cheers,
Iain T

everything I've ordered from them is in BMW stamped bags - I believe they get O/E direct from Germany.
ask them.

I have been to the BMW dealers for things i have needed and i must admit,i have been amazed by how competitively priced they have been,so far,and the fact that they have found me some obscure item that i'd have thought would have long gone from their stocks(i never got this from Ford parts,as they tend not to be able to get anything for cars over about ten years old--my experience). Plus it's yet another main dealer invoice for the cars history!!!!

On about 90% of parts I enquired about motormec was cheaper than my local dealer (and much more pleasant to deal with!) one thing BMW always seem to be cheaper for are bolts, washers, backets, o rings etc. All the small items.
