It was indeed a special order colour.

Don't count on the 'only 500 made' claim though, that sounds rubbish, and I'd be almost 99.9% it would have been a lot less than that!

There were only ever just over 2000 facelift 325i sports made for a start.

if you really think of it ....if it looks exactly like dolphin grey ....who cares if there were only 500 that colour....if anything it would make a respray to damaged parts later a pain in the ass!

Granite is a very nice colour, better (in my opinion of course!) than dolphin.

Mine is Granite Silver, and it's definately a lighter shade than Dolphin, but darker than Lachs Silver, I really like it, but then I might be a touch biased winkeye

So far as it being a limited edition, I'm not aware of it being a limited build other than it only being introduced in 1991 when the last 325i Sports were made, which would naturally limit the number of cars in this colour.

I remember a while back there was a "what colour is your Sport" type thread and it seemed that out of the thousands of members on the zone there only appeared to be about 3 with a granite silver sport, so I guess they are quite rare.

Whether or not this adds value to the car I suppose depends on whether or not YOU like the colour, colour is probably THE most subjective aspect of any car.

Hope this helps

Simon, do you remember my car from the first midlands rolling road day? You were there in your red sport...

Of course Mark! I also remember when the car was for sale, pictures of the car in a car park iirc, looked very nice!
