I cant show you a diagram but... To remove the rear section, tilt the sunroof upwards, and to remove the front, slide it back. pretty easy to replace.
were did you get a new seal from? price?

Trying the replace the seal with the sunroof panel in place is a major pain in the ar*e, I have done it myself. The easiest way is to remove the sunroof panel and that way you can check for rust along the roof panel lip for rust and get repaired before you fit new seal.
New seals are available from BMW. You can either buy it as a 2 piece which I recommend if you plane to replace with the sunroof panel in situ, or as a one piece.
However, it will take a bit of care and patience to re-align the roof panel if you take it off. If you're not confident about doing this, then go with fitting the seal with the roof panel in place.

I bought one for mine two or three months ago and it was only £24 from the dealers and that was a single length of trim not two parts.
Why do they do it as 1 part and as 2parts???

The one piece version is cheaper but more difficult to fit, so when I had a coupe and replaced mine, I just bought the one piece and cut it!

you would have thought the two piece version would be pointless as surely if you have two joins thats another place to leak?

The S/R seal is a draft excluder and water seal, water that pass's the seal collects in the channel and then drains from each corner via the drain pipes that run through the car and deposit the water under the car.michealewk wrote:exactly.......................appletree wrote:you would have thought the two piece version would be pointless as surely if you have two joins thats another place to leak?
I replaced my seal with a two piece because thats what was on there before but i should have used the one piece.
To replace the seal's you are best off taking the roof pannel out as when you pull the old seal off it will probobly be rusty so you will need to treat the rust and apply some new paint.
