I have just bought a 325 touring/tourer, what ever they call it, and want to fit my 6x9's.

Is there a tried and tested way? Anyone do an adaptor plate like I had for my e36?

You can buy speaker pods for I think 4 or 5 inch speakers, or you can make your own shelf I guess or do like a lot do and butcher the side compartments!

i built my own shelf... i had to cover it in grey carpet but never got around to finishing it... 6x9's are a big no no, as they are quite poo if im honest. You want to build yourself a shelf and stick some infinity component speakers there... 16cm ones with tweeters and x-overs.. i then amped mine up along with the component setup at the front and it sounded amazing... then i added a sub underneith the shelf i built and mate believe me.. it was the best system i have ever had.. i think the total set up cost around £300 and then a further £100 for the sub and wood i used to build everything up 8)

I have got an Infinity sub and a 400w rms decent 4 channel amp that I have used for ages. I have also got a JVC touch screen h/u which cost me £500 so the system is together.

Only thing is my 6x9's are virtually brand new JBL efforts which were quite pricey as well and they sounded great in my e36's. I have no intention of spending out on new stuff.

Someone needs to sell a mounting plate for em I bet they would make a few quid

It's not the answer I am looking for gents I am shite at woodworky type stuff.

Anyone want to come round and do it for me winkeye I got excellent squash serving facilities :P

Do you lot mean make your own full shelf across the whole boot area like a hatch back or make up something for the sides?
If any tourer owners have made their own side shelves pictures would be mightily helpful  so I can have a head start not spend a day figuring out how to do it but get on and do it.

Someone suggested these as a compromise as I have a couple of 6X9's lying around. Never got round to doing anything about it though.

Just had another look, there not lght at 2kg's each.

I am sure i could make up a shelf no probs tbh, I have done mdf shelfs on plenty of other cars but I feel the tourer boot seems to large to shelf up.

I like my load cover really

you could cut them into the boot floor  though obviously you couldnt carry a spare wheel..

or you could just buy my speaker pods and the speakers I am going to try fit to them!

they would only be 4inch speakers even if they did fit, 90Watt I think but they are easy to fit.

ditch the 6x9s, amp the fronts and the sub!!!

Why do people still use 6x9s???? it is a cheaper way to get some sort of bass out of the car. you should concentrate in getting the fronts right in a SQ car there is just a set of fronts and a sub.

Yeah I appreciate the qualities of a decent system in a car but money is very limited atm with most going on my house. I was hoping to use what I have already especially as the 6x9's are still virtually brand new.

If I was spending I would get pods for the doors and fit decent components front and rear with the sub.
