hi!

idle on my car is funny, it usually idles at 650ishrpm all the time, however it seems to be idling at 900ish now-sometime flipping between 650-900.

ive just replaced the dizzy cap rotor and plugs and the car pulls great and feels very quick now. however the idle issue remains.

i think it may be the TPS as when u move the throttle with ure hand from the idle position with the engine off, (so u can listen carefully)... there is no click...... should there be a click, if so i guess this is the problem...

i have no clue about m20s, still learning...

can anyone help?

cheers

Should deffo be a click just as you open the throttle, whip the TB off and clean out the TPS, make sure everything is nice and tight too on the inlet system.

my touring suffered big idleing problems that I traced down to a tiny split in the air-intake pipe leading into the throttle body (between the air filter box and the butter-fly flap on the throttle body

ok....

went and took tb off

realised that the bloody tps was loose and not secured on tb properly....

took it off-still not clicking

tried to open the switch up but couldnt and didnt want to break it

so i poured some of shells finest optimax into the hole in the switch where the rod of the butterfly goes and shook it around.. did this a few times and voila!! a click was now present!

didnt want to fire the beast up as its a bit late but will try tmro... will be nice and cold in the morning too so we'll see how she copes then!

cheers

Great stuff, if I remember correctly you were having problems with a lot of crud in the breathers? This would have caused the TPS to get all blocked up as it's position under the TB.

you want a TPS karan? i have at least 3 kicking around from various engines!

if you have 3 spare then it's much easier to get one apart to check it as it doesn't matter if you break it!
