steering gaitor,should it leak???

hi,missus 320i touring has a power steering leak,bad! ive looked underneath and its coming from a hole in the steering rack gaitor,i though these were just dust shields? is the rack buggered or can i just put another gaitor on?? cheers,Tel

sounds like she needs new rack mate

the internal seals have failed I'm afraid.
