hey guys!
New to all this forum stuff, but i'm looking for a nice 320, not something overly played with already but more of a good base to start from! not a whole lot of cash to spend but was wondering if you guys would know of the best things to look out for on them, and the best places to keep my eye on to find one!
Cheers for any tips!

Welcome.
You've come to the best place for advice. Beware though, lots of people will tell you to forget the 320i and go for a 325i (or bigger!).
You may read some horror stories about the smaller engine being too thirsty for it's power output. It's all relative..... Depends on how you drive and what you expect from your car. If your car is mainly a runabout, a standard car should be fine, but if you do long distance trips regularly there are mods you can do quite cheaply to gain a bit more economy. 320i's are also cheap to gain a bit more power out of if you want it and don't want to go for a 325i.
You should find quite a few bargains if you stick to 320i. People who crave big power avoid them, so it's more of a buyers market than the more obviously "sporty" versions of the E30.

good choice mate. the 320's are reliable good solid cars and a brilliant entry level bmw.
things to look out for... rust on arches(check the inner arches in the boot, you will have to pull the boot lineing away to do this)
rust on the scuttle+roof+sills+doors basically rust!!! its the e30's worst enemy.
service history(stamps in the service book)
when was the cam belt changed?
what inspection it has just had done?
if in any doubt im sure a zoner will come with you too look at one if he or she lives nearbye.
