noticed a few spots on the 320i, mainly on the lip of the boot...anybody else have this problem??
i see loads of e30's on here with PERFECT body condition and surely they wernt all that well looked after when purchased, so some people on here would have had to do some mods to repair scratches, dents and rust at some stage??
please help as i want to put the car back to its pristine condition! long live the E30!!

For a "perfect" job,a complete body strip and spray is the only way.bit pricey though!E30_320i wrote:noticed a few spots on the 320i, mainly on the lip of the boot...anybody else have this problem??

thats an extreme way to get perfection,.but if you know of a good body shop, one that has been recommended by lots of people(not just one or two),than chances are you can get your bits sorted out without going for the strip routine.

It is worth paying good money for body repairs,if it comes back not perfect from having a cheap job done, you'll be forever cussing yourself!

ive been through it with my old car. someone broke into it the usual hole in the door to pop the catch rutine, and i paid good money to get it fixed and it looked perfect.
few month back i had a brick through the back window, and they threw 2 bricks, 1 went through the other bounced off my roof!!! anyway i went to a different place that cost 1/2 the money the company i had used before!
now you can see scratches/ over spill of paint etc of where hes put the filler in :'(
oww dear

yep that saying does ring a bell
hahaha youd be amazed when i tell you that its a really quiet area and is one of the safest places to be, think someone was after my hi-fi again tbh. as somehow the cat was let out of the bag and they found out i had renewed my system! and it was exactly the same day a year later when i had the last lot nicked. coincidence i think not.

All rust needs to be treated with an inhibitor i have had good results with Krust, Remove as much rust as possible and paint on to the prepared metal surface the white liquid turns black when cured then filler primer and paint.

If its just your bootlid why don't you try and find one in a scrappy wothout any rust, could be the cheaoest and easiest option!

Just try and find a good one and get it sprayed, you'll be spraying anyway if your treating rust, and you won't need to worry about using filler.
Thos is what i'm planning on doing as mine has started to go on the inside of the badge
, so at leats i know the rust won't come back.

Don't know to be honest mate, the only other place on my car there i a slight amount of rust is on the nearside sill just after it meets the wing.

what you gonna do with your nearside sill then bud? when i got on rust on my clio i used to just wax the arches to stop the water from getting in and stop it spreading!
disheartening though to see rust appearing! like i said before its strange why a company hasnt bought out a 100% rust repair solution as it would save us all alot of money!!

Not sure yet mate, hasn't got any worse over the year i have owned it. The cars going into a bodyshop on the 30th to have some crash damage sorted so will ask him what he thinks, it hardly noticeable just i know its there.
Quite impressed with the quality of steel these are built with, i had expossed metal on my wing and bonnet since late August that is creased and not a hint of anykind of surface rust or anything.
Just think of how rich you's be if you invented somekind of total rust cure!
