Right, i had the steering spindle/ UJ off to relace the centre bush, and it appears that while doing this, i have disturbed the seal that goes around the splined part of shaft that goes into the rack. (It rotates with the shaft)
Is this replaceable at all? can you remove the shaft? new rack? :x

Been fine every other time ive done this, why does it always go wrong when its your own car!!!

james, you can get e seal kit, (you'll be able to get one from your dealers, about £35) but they are an absolute oain in the arse to f*ck around with!! the only advantage is, you get the 2 year fitted part warranty, so if it goes, you can just get done under warranty!

in fact, what i'd do, is buy the seal kit, dont fit the kit, wait 3-4 weeks, and then get it done under fitted part warranty!!!! winkeye

Thanks for replying! Interesting.
Ive been offered a leak free rack for £30, so will probably just take that route for now. If that one goes tits up then i can fit a new seal on my one and whack that one back on.
Do you find that working on your own car always ends in tears!?
