I remember vaguely that some one has fitted an oil temp sender in place of their sump plug to save drilling/tapping else where to mount the sender.

Which sender have they used ? Did it screw in OK or did you need to tap the thread of the sump plug hole ?

What guage do you use and did the sender come with the gauge ?

If the sump plug hole isn't a good place for the sender where would you mount it ?

you can use the m3 one, and it screws in as direct replacement.

drill and tap the oil filter housing? that would be better

I bought a VDO one to go with the gauge.
Didn't cost much ... just screws in as a replacement sump plug.
Think drilling the oil filter housing is a bit extreme.

Is this the one ?

Will it be compatable with an after market gauge ?

The one I bought is VDO part no. 323 801 010 003K.
M12x1.5 thread.
Goes with the VDO gauges.

oh and the reason i said about drilling/tapping the oil filter housing is that when you fit a temp sensor to your sump your will notice it sticks out and can catch on the ground ;)
