With just the slightest hint of sarcasm!datourer wrote:Oh Steve, you are such a tease. I'm sure I speak for the entire zone when I say I can't possibly wait another day without seeing your car lowered.
And Steve, if thats 2 ft either side, its plenty to do small jobs on the car, and quite a generous single garage!

might be worth trying shimming the rear springs a bit? a 50mm plate should level things up a treat and you'll still have a matching set of springs

make some steel or ali plates up that sit between the spring and the chassis leg.stevetigger wrote:Dont get what you mean??gareth wrote:might be worth trying shimming the rear springs a bit? a 50mm plate should level things up a treat and you'll still have a matching set of springs
i'd have to look to be more exact but the rear must work on about a 2:1 lever ratio. eg, if the wheel moves 50mm, the spring compresses 25mm. (this ratio can be measured on the car). if say you want to lift the rear by 10mm, then make up a 5mm thick plate and fit it. between the chassis leg and the rubber pad should be a good place.
i've not tried it on the E30 yet but this is fairly common practice in motorsport circles to even out chassis balance or fine tune ride height.
