Buying an Integra Type R this month which I know Im going to love as Ive already had a test drive in one. The scary thing is that it felt just like getting into my 325 Sport again! The handling and turn in were similar and the acceleration wasnt much different either!
Anyway I dont want to sell the BMW. Now that its all running sweetly it sounds amazing and pulls like a bitch. I can safely say that it would destroy a standard 325 Sport once it hits 4000rpm plus now with the H&R Cup kit it goes round corners really well and has a good ride too.
I just wish I had the room to keep it somewhere and never sell it and just keep doing more and more work to restore it even closer to new condition.

Dont know, thats the one that came with it. There are receipts for an Alpina exhaust system but I dont know if thats whats still on it. It sounds nice though! Nice and subtle normally yet around 5k rpm it sounds like a Supra. :)

LOL! The main reason Im selling it is because I dont have the space to keep both the Sport and the ITR. Im renting at the mo with the gf and a couple of others. If I had my own house I'd keep the Sport in the garage and leave the ITR outside. Ive always wanted a long term car project to work on and I think the Sport would be great for it.

Integra type R's are amazing cars, 1 week of driving it and you will forget all about the sport.

IMO your mad to sell for a Integra,

Yeh there good cars but its like driving a coke can around, they are that flimsy. They handle amzin tho and the engine is solid as but i just think the sport is more of a cruiser and much better drive.

But everyone has different tastes

Yeah the two cars are quite different as the BMW is a capable car at any rev range and drives nicely but I just fancy something really raw that I can thrash the sh** out of. :)

The main pipes are around 49mm each as far as I can remember when I fitted new clamps. As for the tailpipes Im not sure.

It looks like a non-sport back box, Sports have straight tails to exit through the bumper hole.

Your 325 must be a mighty fast example if it sits anywhere near a Teg R.

Anyway you can keep both?

If not....sell the BM!

Yes, yes you are.....

In an ideal world, you'd have RWD only.

But can an M20 2.5 do 40mpg, and be as quick as one of these little boxes....NO!

The fastest way around corners isn't to drift, as cool as it looks and as fun as it is being smooth is better and faster. Yes it drives the 'wrong' wheels but very few people actually take advantage of the fact E30s do despite the fact they keep saying wrong wheel drive which is pretty ironic. Not you in particular Dan but many many others!

i no the fastest way isnt to drift, as much as it is fun. but surely it must understeer if you push it to its absolute limits? what is it that is so good about the handling?

I never said the handling was that great, but it can be pretty damn good with decent suspension etc. As it can with a 325 or similar.

The best thing about them is that they can be driven sedately and return 40mpg. I never really got more than 25mpg out of my 325.

Also, the noise of VTEC is just out of this world, the technology and reliability is simply so much better than an old M20.

i would never in a million years dispute that. The vtec system is incredible, have seen it on a b16a2 in motion at the autosport show an its quite something. i would love to drive one!

would be a shame to sell such a mint sport though dont you think?

Absolutely agree with that mate yes. No doubt.

Plus all the time/effort/money that's gone into it.

At the same time, he obviously fancies a change, and there always comes a time to move on......Our survey says....

For example I loved my touring, ploughed thousands into it, loved it and moved on. But had fun. I'll be back with an E30 M3 at some point though!

So long as it's as reliable then I'll be happy. There aren't many 1.6s from 1990 which put out 160bhp out of the box which makes for a great light track car. You need to come to a trackday and come for a ride, then you'll realise what it's all about.... :D

But yes, next on the trackcar list will have to be rear wheel drive, as all 'proper' cars are. That's not to say that FWD can't be fun! :?  :)

LOL @ this little debate! Trust me anyone who doesnt know how good the Integra's are needs to drive one HARD. Evo magazine this month rated the ITR as not only one of the best FWD drivers cars of all time but one of the best drivers cars full stop.
Put it this way, when I drove it, it felt just like my 325 Sport when I threw into corners with the way it turned in and went round. No other FWD car feels as good.
If anyone needs convincing I'll take them for a run when I get it. :)

Try to keep the Beemer though Adam, you've done so much to it!

People have RWD/BMW blinkers on!

Unless you are a very very good driver you don't make use of the fact that a car is RWD over FWD and it's only on track you can exploit a car to where it matters.

Exactly. Although I look after my car and spare no expense I drive it harder than probably 95% of the people on here yet I only go to within a certain limit.
Although when the back comes out its usually very easy to catch I dont want to risk pushing it so hard that I'll wreck all the work Ive done over the last year and all the money Ive spent on it.
Because of this, someone with the same skill in an equally capable car such as the ITR will be able to match me on the corners.

I really really want to have both but I just dont know if I can spare the space in the garage.

Havent bought one yet. Still looking for a standard UK model with low miles. Most of them have been ruined by twats sticking on 17" wheels and gay rear lights etc.

Here's a few pics of one I went to look at on monday but its from the Honda dealers and they are asking far too much. I made them an offer but they wouldnt go for it.

So what have honda done to the chassis to make it such a good car to drive? Is it because it's about 200bhp that it's not too much power to invoke silly torquesteer like the vauxhall vectra on top gear? I've read before that more than 250bhp on FWD is a waste of time as it's too much power for wheels handle aswell as doing the main braking and all the steering on top?

I'm interested as what dave says is true, i've been on track in his civic and Dave at the helm going sideways better than most folks can in beemer and both laughing in a big fearful way! (only when the porka pulled out dave!)

This was in the wet but in the dry it handles very nicely imo

Dave u say keep the sport but...........why didn't u keep the touring? Kedge is selling it soon so could have it back!

Don't sell PERIOD ! the ttpe R is not as reliable as people think also y mate recently got shot as it was always in the dealers,IMHO a car also has to have good lines the the type R does nit have one in my opinion.

I gaurantee you will eventually regret it if you sell.
