Previously completed 325 engine into 320 model. enjoyed that.
now want to drop 320 engine into 318is (is engine fooked).
questions:-
1.-will 320 gearbox connect to 318is propshaft and diff ? reason on asking, small budget. fab direct quoted £65 on 320prop, £150 325 diff.!!!
will check e30zone parts after this post.offers welcome.
2.-also missing front calipers off 318is.should i purchase 320/325 calipers or 318is calipers (any difference) ?
why 320 engine?, well will be "upgrading" to 2.5/2.7 in the future. (saving 1st!!)
any options welcomed.

Aside from perhaps insurance reasons, i certainly wouldnt bother with a 320i engine. The economy isnt far off that of a 325i engine. I really cant see the point. Besides i think im right in saying there are more parts you could use (depending of the 325i engine version) in converting it to a 2.7
Come on peeps more opinions required!

You can pick a decent 318iS engine up for around £200 why bother putting a 320i lump in?
You will need to change the gearbox, prop, diff? wiring ecu etc,
The brakes on the 318iS are the same as a 325i

i think h35-ian had an is engine for sale for good money in the for sale section
320i deffo would be only for the sound not for performance or economy.
i wouldn't do it
