Hi guys,

Please follow the tiny url for photos:

http://tinyurl.co.uk/ibwr

Recently bought an E30 Cab and found some mystery parts in the glove box. The black box module could be part of the alarm system because the alarm does not sound, or the lights flash, when you press the key fob. Also the magnetic key does not work. Seems to have been disabled but I wouldn't know where to plug it in!

The are also a couple of worrying wires insulating taped together under there...

The wire picture is of one I found in the cats cradle of wires behind the glove box. Looks like some kind of snesor. It is about a metre long, black with a clear section and a black shrink wrapped tip.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Regards,

Frank

pics 1+2 no idea

pic 3+4 c/l relay

as regards your alarm, i would rip it out and get cat1 alarm fitted to be honest.

all the older factory/dealer installed alarms are not worth having.

no point spending time/money on a dated alarm system

Thanks guys,

Guess it must be a broken or spare relay since the central locking works on the key & wireless at the moment.
I don't really want to fix the alarm, just curious. The imobilser works though, 'cos it keeps catching me out!
I'm not used to having to disarm it as well as unlock.

The first two picture are of the same object BTW, and it deffinately has a wire in it. Not likely to be aerial related as the electric aerial works fine.

Any ideas on the metal slip?

Thanks again,

Frank

Cheers.
Metal slip does have a BMW stamp and part no. from memory.
No big deal, more interested in the loose "wire"....
