Morning gents,

My 325i is running really badly, I think it might be a misfire - I can best describe it as chugging when idling and accelerating - and it sounds a bit like an old VW beetle!!

The car hasn't been used for months other than moving it around the drive so could it be the plugs clogged up with crap? Is there a check I can do other than visual?

Any other possible causes?

Cheers,
Bryn.

if it was me i would pull all the plugs and clean them .also check the distributor and leads

misfire could show itself as a rocking engine ie moving on the engine mounts or sometimes can be heard at the exhaust a popping sound . its hard to discribe be easy to identify when you no what one is .

also was the battery dead coz the ecu may have reset itself and can cause the car to run lumpy for a while till its gets all the settings right again .
