had a toad ai606 alarm and imm. fitted today...did any e30's come with total closer facility? (closing of all windows etc when you lock it) if so, is there anything special you have to do to make it work?? - i.e hold key down to left for 3 seconds etc..?
i was sure they didnt, but the guy in the shop seemd to think most bmws have them, even going back 15 years?

E30s didnt come with total close!! if it did the windows would be one touch, and you would be able to close the windows on the deadlock position when locking with the key..... you would need a window module to do total close the alarm fitter should know this!!

yeah the module would have been added when the alarm was fitted, you cant physically do the windows directly off and alarm with out a module, the ones you can do are cars like e36 beemas and vag group that has got comfort closure, all you do on them cars it extend the locking pulse on the alarm so it does the windows up all the e30s i hve seen have not got comfort closure........

nope you need an extra box to do total closure, the existing window/SR switches are simple <push it moves buttons> you would need a latching circuit to get them to autoclose, I had thought about doing this for mine, should easy enough with a 12V relay that is triggered from the closure contacts and holds itself closed until the closed switch breaks the coil circuit. Not had a good look at it but wouldn't be a hard thing to do I think.

Problem with E30s is that there's no feedback on the widows. I.e. Nolthing to tell the module that the windows may be already closed.
When an E30 window reaches its stop the motor simply stalls, which is not good for the motor or the wiring.
If you look at E36 or E34 windows, they have a microswitch fitted which provides the feedback.
An E30 mechanism has a place where it looks like a microswitch belongs, but I've never seen one fitted there.
There are two brown earth wires to each E30 window switch. If you disconnect all the ones that are used for up, connect them together, and arrange a relay to switch them between earth and 12V+, then, when they are switched to 12V+ all the widows should go up.
