What do I need to replace the manual windows in my 1984 prefacelift 323i into electronic ones?
I have come up with:
1. Electric motors x 2
2. Switches x 2
What is in the wiring loom though? I heard that on the dash there is a button next to the hazard warning light one for something to do with electric windows?
I presume that I can use my existing glass panels already, although have to be careful not to smash them during the conversion!

Pre facelift doors will require pre facelift motor assemblies, unless you change the window glass.
Door looms may be present, but I doubt if any of the rest of the loom is there.
Wiring is just a twin wire from each door motor to the relavent switch, a wire from the switches to the cut out (the thing by the hazard switch, a resettable fuse) and then a wire on to a fused ignition source. You can also add the little relay panel in the glovebox (from a scrapper) if you want to, so that the windows work with the doosrs open as well.

Will it be ok if I purchase a post facelift motor assembly with the glass, to fit in my prefacelift door?
I presume the wiring route goes from the door, along the dash, to the gearbox area, up to the radio area and then to the fuse box?

The only car I have ever converted with the early type manual wider mechanism was actually an early facelift car.
The later type electric mechanism, complete with glass, bolted straight on to the door frame with no problems that I can remember. If there were any problems, they were easily solved ones.
