just fitted a lhd(m3)cruise control to my 325i touring manual,
economy is improved no end and makes driving on long roads so relaxed, wasnt hard to fit -bought of here for around 100 quid and will pay for itself in no time.

get one fitted.....

Tis tempting....

How does it work? Is it purely mechanical or are there some electrickery involved?

What happens when you go up/down hill, do the revs change to maintain set speed?

Cheers!

Cruise is electronic, and mechanical, it's basically another throttle cable from an electronic actuator.

Uphill the car will maintain perfect speed (unless travelling slow on a very steephill in 5th) and downhill will also maintain speed.

I've had/got cruise on all my E30's, and is very worthwhile!

Once set what happens if you brake/accelerate, does the cc switch off?

Matt
If you touch the brake or clutch pedal, it switches off, it also memorises last preset speed, and with one press of the switch, the car will accelerate upto the last memorised speed.
If you press the accelerator, the car will accelerate as normal, as soon as you let off, the car will settle back to the cruise set speed.

if u have auto it kicks down a gear for u! and changes up if your accelerating too!

for ultimate lazy driving auto plus cruise, on the m-way u can't beat it. All i need now is a centre arm rest and a pipe

WELL MATES , my us cabby had factory original cruise and although i don't get occasion to utilize it as often as i like i think every e30 should have gotten it from the get go . AS the above fellows have stated it's a luxury that most people will enjoy having . After you install i think you'll say "bloody hell this is fookin cool ,why did i wait so long ???"""

how does it connect up to the throttle? i assume its in the engine bay similar/identical to the 5 and 7 series.

the only reason i ask is cos ive got a 335 and was wondering if the cruise is going to need major adaption to get it to work on the m30....cant imagine it would be too difficult. anyone tried it yet?

it would be handy on the 335 cos it fair sucks up the petrol and anything will help around town

Simon, I'm with you. Got Auto Touring with Cruise and a towbar - no caravan though!

Not sure if the 'Resume' function is working properly on mine as it doesn't go back to the last preset speed.
