E30M50 airbox options

I notice most E30 M/S50 peeps are using open pod filters which I don't quite fancy. Other than the pricey carbon fibre BMC CDA box what are the other airbox options?

Why is it people dont use the original air-box? Clearance?
I have the MZRoaddster one still and hoped to fit it when converting a 328iS, there was loads more clearance. Now looking at the 325i I'm going to use the ABS pump and expansion tak are in the way.
Still, I like the bigger HKS ones, even if they dont filter as well as a paper one.. (NO they dont boys and girls).
