I'm taking apart the left rear seat back in my Touring so I can replace the latch mechanism (the black plastic loop that pops up next to the head rest). I've got the seat padding off, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to remove the carpeted panel attached to the BACK of the seat back. Thoughts?

just watch your fingers!!!

Don't lose the little spring retaining washer. It's a bit fiddly and it flies off when you pry it off!

Thanks guys. I keep reading about this spring clip, but can't seem to find it. When the seat back is flipped forward, does it live somewhere down inside the black metal channel where everything hinges? The most that I can see down there is a little metal strip--about 1/4 inch by 2 inches that looks like it's tack welded to the channel. I've gotta be missing something obvious...
