Does anyone know if the back box uses the original E30 straps?

No you need special Scorpion Straps as the box is larger. (you can make fit with the stock straps but you need a very long bolt)

Well you would need to punch out the studs on the BMW straps, then i would say about 4inch bolt would be enough to align both straps. You can then cut the new bolt down to size one fitted.

I would use an angle grinder to cut the old stud out so as not to bend/damage the old strap.

It's for the touring mate, systems between M3 and normal E30 are totally different, touring uses straps to hold the back box on, where as the M3 has proper brackets.

Cheers for the replies guys, I'm fitting a standard back box for now, and may look into fitting a scorpion box in the near future. Do they sell them seperate?

Unless you are deaf, or live on a council estate i would advise passing on a scorpion exhaust, they are horrid and your first motorway trip will drive you bananas.

Yeah,
I think simon will agree here.
Mines got a scorpion and although it's loud, it's not untill your up to 4k rpm that it really starts to bark

Really depends what speed you drive on the motorway whether or not you get the growl winkeye so best you slow down

Nice burble low down in the revs though or if you floor it as the guys have said.

May have back section up for sale soon when I get my standard exhaust off Scott325SE. :D

Ive got scorpian middle box and rear box on my M50 conversion and it sounds like a standard M20 exhaust until you get to about 3000 rpm.

Didnt really notice the loudness at 130 the other day!

Although I am 90% deaf in my right ear

I used new standard straps on the rear box, just cut the studs out and replaced with bolts about 50mm long.
Wish id have known about those stainless straps though :(

Ahh, now the E30 M3 scorpion systems, now they are rubbish!
Totally un-suited to the buzzy nature of the S14!
