well if your happy shaft is ok ,have a crack m8?(bearing in mind its your cheapest /easiest option, that 3 stud mani is a problem for upgrade/replacement units.

make sure its surgically clean on rebuild and renew oil/filter.p.s im sur you wont forget to prime upon inital startup.

il let Ant and a few outhers take a peak first of these pics before i splash out on a repair kit..cheapes ive found is £50-60 sheets but its Ebay.. everyone else ive found is overseas and there quoting $150 shipped..

If i get this lil ot back together and it starts throwing oil outa that seal again then it wont be worth a bean by the time ive ripped it out and stamped all over the fooker... and il just sell the rest off..Recon units is just outa my price range right now..

If said shaft is good and i repair this unit.. then il got through the painstaking task of putting the mani back on which will take me about a month..test that feed and crimp those dam copper pipes if thats what it takes to get the required flow....worst can happen is that i split em..then its watch time and this time il capture the whole thing with Digi cam so we can all see wtf im talking about..

My dilema is that i need to do this oil feed test again once and if i repair this turbo..i will eventually replace the whole oil setup but dont wanna throw anymore money at it till i get the problem sorted...i cant keep idling this engine for 2 seconds at a time..you seen the state of my plugs in that 'Compression test' thread in Tech ..chambers are serioulsy flooded but im holding the dam turbo shaft so it doesnt spin during all this testing so i cant keep the engine running for more than 3 seconds tops... anyone got any ideas? blanking off the manifold where the turbo sits is not an option as i got to fit the turbo before the manifold goes on..another TD mani conversion hickup :(

No way of testing the oil feed unless i got a manifold on i guess..sound like a tank eh?

still at it then.

just put a fitting with 3-4mm bore in the line(feed) and that should do ,bearing in mind if you releive your engine oil pressure here (for whatever reason -your robbing big end pressure etc and damage will occur in my opinion.)

most people are restricting through fitting bores and no need for any taps etc?

carb cleaner is OK to use mate

to remove the oil staining use metal polish, put the shaft in a drill and gentley spin her up , Duraglit is spot on for this btw

any scoring ..... new shaft but its gotta be deep scoring, some light marking is "normal"

as with all rebuilds, clean it until you'd happily have surgery using the parts, only then can you re-assemble it all.

take your time and the result will make you smile dude

Dude, this is one negative side of modding, you can end up in the deep end, dont worry , there's not one thing that could go wrong that there's no soloution for

Plan , prep, mod, troubleshoot - enjoy.... its just the way it is

Thks Matt..appreciated as is all the help here... Everyone thats posted has had good advice...i go off on the deep end sometimes but thats my nature im afriad..cant change now :)

I got no regrets on trying the FI route just wish i had a lil more Help from certain people..I dont even know 100% that this unit was porked..il only know that once the repair kit is installed and is ready to back in..

Things il check:

***Make sure the feed is ok***..again,gunna stick a blob of glue for the time being so the tap/adjustter doesnt ope any further..dont trust that at all ATM... i think the press switch was 12mm? so i have to find a fitting that will go there, accomidate a oil gauge sender and the T off to a braided 4-5mm hose up to the turbo...ive emailed a few places but this is my first time doing this.dont know what things are called or where to source them etc

***Make sure Oil drain is ok***...Just check flow really though in the end its just another 10mm copper pipe..not sure on wether thats enough either though the sumps being done now so i got to live with it unless i take all that off again...not doing that..what ever pipe.hose i use from the turbo,it will allways flow into a 10mm fitting :S

***Hopefully i can ge the mani on and work out a way to fit turbo afterwards***..this turbo&mani off whenever i gota do some work is just rediculous..hopefully i can work away round that..

***With turbo off i can start her up**.. and check oil feed on the fly..hopefully oil pressure wont blow it back up the drain pipe as it on tbe connected to the turbo? .. i got to let the engine run a bit to burn all this crap off..my plugs show signs of stupid amounts of over-fueling..h8 to think what its doing to the bores/rings/chambers etc (terminology might not be right, but you know where i mean :P )

***Clean out the IC and hoses*** hoses are done,IC is a PITA to get out as Rad needs to removed/coolant drained..hopefully i can clean it enough in Situ

***Mani being fitted WITHOUT turbo will be a huge bonus as i can check conpression again properly***

So if all the above is ok and and fitted....il watch and see..if oil comes pissing out the unit again..i will give up for now and go back Stock which will hurt...alot but i gota have my car back..im missing the summer/meets and just generally enjoying it...i got new rims that needs to fitted :) ... then il either give it to someone with more knowledge (Ant) to sort or il just sell it if its anygood to sell that is..

Thanks again

Carl
