hey, i recently bought 2 subwoofers and i put them in my boot and i was quite dissapointed with sound coming into the cabin, i was thinking of cutting 6 x 9 holes in the back shelf and the metal underneath it and then covering them with a 6 x 9 speaker grills to let more bass into the cabin, do you think it would make much difference or is there no point ruining the shelf, can anyone help ?

thanx :)

The metal is there for a reason, strength. Cut it at your own risk.

Why not get a jack and jam the speaker against the back of the back seat?

my friend has a sub in his boot, and it sounds really good. either try a very powerful amp or if you are thinking along the lines of 6x9's you can purchase spacers so you can fit 6x9's, ive got spacers for mine, and it seems to work fine.

is your amp switch to hp or lp?

The only thing you can remove metal wise is the ski hatch, in the boot remove the cardboard back of the seat and you will see an oval hole in the middle which is loosly tacked in. Remove that only.

yeap ski hatch only!!!! i fitted a 12" infinity running off a 600w west coast amp in my mates car it pounds!!!!! it sounds like you are either not driving the subs enough (amp too small) or the settings are wrong.....

no cutting i would leave it alone .....2 12's in the trunk and you'll see that there's no need to cut anything turn the box to direct your speakers towards the cabin and your set , my 1000 watt amp does the job in my cabby.

in last months mag someone made a sub housing and aimed 2 subs at a 45" angle thru the rear arm rest so when thats folded down the bass comes thru.... ive thought of the 6x9 holes but debating how shit 6x9's in boxes on the parcel shelf would look :D

i heard of a bloke who cut out the metal frame to put subs in and eventually the car started to cave in on itself! doors would'nt shut etc... dont do it mate, 2 subs with a good amp is plenty in the boot!
