hi all i was out in my new m3 last nite(pics coming soon) any way i was nailing it out on a dual carraige way when i eased off the accelerator to change the speedo dropped to 0kmph and when i let up the clutch and pressed it again it went back to the speed. any way i pulled in and looked under bonnet as it was dark i left alone. when going slow it seems to record the speed until the gear change then it just goes to 0kmph again.
if any one could shed light on this it wud be very appreciated. :?

Check the connector plug on the pulse sensor which is located on the back of the Diff cover.

A plug with two wires going into the back of the differential cover which is the big silver thing at the back of the car in front of the spare wheel well. There could be a broken wire or loose connector.

The wire will probably not be broken as in hanging loose, but will be broken internaly. Gently pull the individual wires and see if one stretches.
A repair of the wire won't last long. Ideally you should replacean 18" long piece of the wire complete with plug. A yellow headlamp connector from a scrap car is an ideal replacement.
