Hi it Lydia from Performance BMW magazine, i just wanted to pick everyones brains, we are hoping to have a Track day at Brands Hatch in Nov 06 we are currently debating making it either an Open pit lane or a Session day - so split into Novice/Intermediate/Advance.
wanted to know who would come and if you would prefer and open pit lane or sessions.
let us know!!!!
cheers

Open Pit lane for sure.
Much more track time, you go out and come in when YOU feel like it. NO pressure to be ready for a session.

Yep I saw the venue, but wondered which circuit the trackday would be using... Indy or Grand Prix?

Yeah that's why I was asking - I've done the Indy quite a few times but never driven the GP circuit.

Sorry but if its a PBMW even then it has to be a Session! As open pit will be a free for all with monkeys behind the wheels of powerful cars.

Sessions, you will get better cars out there if they don't feel intimidated (or afraid of being wiped out) by track day regulars in track day cars. And if somebody is out in a modded M6 or whatever, everybody is going to have a pop just to *prove* that they are a driving god and the bloke in the M6 is just a numpty with loads of money
For sale - E30 320i racer project - sold.

Sessions is the only safe way to do these types of track day. If anyone has been to Trax in the past, you'll know how many cars are normally parked up in the paddock trashed after inexperience takes over!!
I'd take my race cars to the day, but ONLY if it was sessioned and split by beginer, intermediate and advanced.

I've been to 2 open pit lane track days now with motorsport vision. While their track days are very expensive they are excellent at keeping it safe. They are extremely strict on overtaking in the wrong places and they make things really clear in the briefings. Overtake where your not meant to and you go home - end of. Too many stunts or any kind of dangerous driving and again - you go home. In the last two track days I've been to I have seen people thrown off the track for not allowing faster cars to overtake and doing stupid manouvers on corners.
On a small track like the Idny brands hatch circuit however things would probably be quite different.
Larger circuits like Silverstone GP and Bedford Autodrome are quite safe as your usually on your own as the cars are very spaced out.
It all depends on how well the day is organised.
I would give brands Batch Indy a miss personally, I find it too small.
There are alot of people here like me who are novices and somewhere like Bedford Autodrome is probably one of the safest, if a little flat, circuits to go on.

The other problem is the monkeys who turn up who haven't the slightest idea of how to prep their cars before a track day and who end up on the gravel or wedged up your backside because they forgot to get decent brakes! Too many people concentrate on power rather than handling and braking.Demlotcrew wrote:Sorry but if its a PBMW even then it has to be a Session!
