Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind an E36 owner popping in to ask a question :)

My bro-in-law just picked up a 1990 320i cab and the instruments are reading way out. The speedo reads about 10-15mph higher than a GPS speed reading and the rev counter reads ok at idle but when you accelerate it reads way too high and will go right off the clock at what feels like 4k'ish rpm.

I was wondering if someone could tell me if it has the right clocks and coding plug from these pics.......

I tried searching but couldn't find the answer so any info will be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Stuart.

Think I've solved the mystery :D

The part number of plug he has is listed for a 316 and 318 not a 320. I'm guessing the 4 pot plug will not work in his 6 :)

yep 4pot plug would cause these probs imo

but also bare in mind that even with the right plug most e30 clock wont read correct at this age :?

proper plug should solve the probs tho
