The M20 has a Alloy sump, dont kwow what the E28 one is like but i bet it will foul the cross member or steering rack. So i say no you cant!

Hi, the e28 sump is very different as the front end of the sump where the oil is (oil pump end) is shaped to the side/slanted because of the front cross member as its a larger vehicle... tried and tested... just use the old sump..

The eta block has the same external dimensions as your existing block. Use the eta block on your e30 sump.Enjoy the boost in torque!!

E28 pressed steel sump will not clear the e30 cross member.

Every cloud has a silver lining, you will almost certainly find it easier to pull the engine out to swap the sump,so now is the perfect excuse to make use of that spare eta....you should find an alloy sump without too much trouble. Then go round the islands, you now its more fun!!!
