The poll on here in regard to money spent on modifying e30's has made me look at the amount of money i have spent on maintaining them over the past few years. looking back at my old receipts I reckon it costs on average £2000 a year to maintain a 325i. This is based on my experience with 3 sound cars and is nowhere near what would be involved in full restoration which is where many cars are now. I make this point as people should be aware of what expensive cars these are to run if you dont do the maintenance yourself and wish to run one that is right.( these figures are based on 10000 miles pa, full services every 6000,and the use of an independent specialist.)Also a note for prospective buyers if the car you are buying has not had plenty of work on it recently chancesare it will not be right.

318i in not bad nick
MOT £44.15
Work for MOT including rear brake pipes, small weld, and fitting second hand lights £275
Clutch slave + master cylinder (bought parts myself at trade price, garage fitted) about £185 all in
For a service buying the parts myself and getting hubby to perform the service cost about £250 in parts/oil (though 80 odd quid was the dizzy cap!)
I need new tyres x 4 and so will be about £300
Not cheap to run, you really need to be an enthusiast!!
I have a A4 folder full of receipts of what ive spent on it!

i have probably spent nearly £500 so far since april
Pair of front wings £60
Front pannal £70
318is interior £100
service (plugs oil and filter) £40
Clutch £100 ish
and various other bits and bats with the mot looming next month i think the rear brakes need totally stripping and re-building..... i love drum brakes really i do
oh and theres the small matter of some rust on the rear arches still to do and a full re-spray
note none of the above prices include labour or the blood (engine shifted while i was doing the clutch..... ouch)
off topic ish but how much would it cost to fit rear discs?
