Hi folks, put the above into the search engine but nothing came up. Can anyone help ? How do you take off/undo/ remove the support bracket from the underside of the inlet manifold cant see how it is connected. To me it looks like the inlet breather pipe, one end the top goes into the inlet manifold and the bottom goes into the engine? :?

it's held in place with a tensioning spring. When you remove the manifold, the pipe is loose. It will either stay attached to the manifold or in the block.

Or fall on the floor.

You've probably missed a nut. Sounds daft, but easy to do. Every time I take one off I find one I swore I'd already removed :)

There are two nuts down underneath as well, holding the manifold and a black pressed steel bracket to which various cables & a socket are atatched.

Have you removed the bracket between the manifold and rocker cover?

Yea... make sure it pull it back enough so you can see all the studs...the stud in the middle if alot longer..you might be getting caught on that..make sure your not putting strain on any pipe/hoses...

also the bracket that hold the inlet maifold to yer rocker cover..undew them and you will also have a railunderneath connected that carrys pipe/hoses too

Disconnect yer fuel rail connectors..1 blue/1 yellow i think and that should be all unless your completely removing it out the engine of course :)

That breather pipe is a PITA.. once you lifted the maifold up enough the pipe will spring upwards as its compressed when manifold is in position..

dont lose any parts to it..trust me your wish you were more carefull!.. i did

you will have the breather pipe/spring/washer/ and 2 lil o-ring's which got on either end of the pipe..make sure these are in place before you replace yer pipe/manifold

get a couple small cable ties and conpress the spring when you put everything backtogether...push the pipe and spring into the engine block as far as it will go get everything in place and cut yer cable ties so the pipe can find its way back up into the maifold...hold it while you do this though just in case..those springs hold some force..

Yes, I think I have all of the bit off, but she just seems still tight. I can pull her off a few of the studs but wont come any further. I don't wont to try to hard be there before on other things and go on to bust something then have to pay of £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£ to get the item replaced. Only taking it off so I can get it power coated at my brothers business.
May be a night sleep and day light will see it off, I have a Haynes manual, is there a publication out there that is better other than of course the puker BMW one from a dealer :D

prolly not been taking off for a while m8..it will come

as long as ALL the above has been done..double check again and any hosing is taking off/unscrewed then you should be ok to use a lil force...

NOTE: make sure your dipstick isnt getting in the way :)
