I have owned my touring for just under a year and I have killed 3 sets of rear shocks.

- the original set that came on the car.

- some new bilsteins.

- and now some apex's.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thinking about some adjustable koni's, but I don't want to throw money away and kill them aswell. :?

Check for fat illegal aliens hiding in your luggage space...

Plus I had the Konis, liked 'em but prefer the Bilstein sprints I have now.

Stupid question maybe, but are you using touring specific shocks?

The bilsteins were meant for a saloon so I'm not suprised they died, but the apex shocks were part of a kit that I bought and were meant for a convertible. I thought convertible shocks would be perfect as convertibles are heavier than saloons. :?

Again, stupid question maybe, but could the fitment of incorrect springs be causing this?

The springs are for a convertible also, I didn't think this would pose a problem???

Any suggestions so I don't have to keep buying shocks?

Apex shocks aren't exactly the best out there.

Which Bilsteins did you have? Black or yellow?

What kind of driving are you doing?

Bilstein sports/sprints will not fail.

not really a help to you but on my micra, one set of shocks got killed by a gang of teenagers bouncing up and down on the bumper at night!

The bilsteins were black and were new and the apex shocks were only a few months old when I got them.

Plus I fitted new top mounts aswell.

Ideas????????

What do you mean by 'killed'? How do you know they are dead? I use koni sport and have a big heavy LPG tank - they are very good. (Apex are entry-level stuff)
