I now have the alternative load cover with integral net, together with the locating pieces which go either side above the rear window which take the lugs from the ends of the drawbar on the net to hold it up in place.
I have instructions and measurements as to where the locating lugs fix but, feeling the roof lining there is no sign that they are there.
Does anyone have any instructions please on how to find the fixing points (captive nut and locating lug) which are, apparently behind the roof lining.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Regards
Nigel

Just had a reply from the BMW dealers and since this was not a retro fit they have no fitting instructions. They advise getting under the roof lining to see where the fixing points are.
Any further help or comments will be much appreciated.

Yeah, when I spoke to the dealers they said they couldn't get me the net/load cover style dog guard because they were no longer available and not retrofittable anyway. They did say that they can still get hold of metal mesh style dog guards for about £100-£120. I forget the exact price but it was over a hundred but not by that much. But I'm sure it can be done with some bodge power!

There have been a couple on eBay recently, which is where I bought mine. One went for £100, and it might have gone for more. I got mine for just £36.00 and it is inexcellent condition. Luckily it came with the mounting points for both the load cover and the net. The former are metal, whereas they are plastic for the normal load cover; the one with the net being much heavier and it is quite easy to break the plastic mounts when putting it into position.
Someone must have retrofitted one of these and know how to do it.

Thanks to Datourer for his (or her) offer of help. Will try feeling along the roof lining again.
