body weight differences?

hi!
wondering for no particular reason (at work with too much time on my hands) if you got a 316 - 318 - 320 - 325 all standard, no bodykits or fancy wheels etc and parked em all in a row, is there a difference in appearence? is it only the engine that changes weight as it gets bigger or does the body weigh more as each model goes up for structual points etc?

Difference's are the rear of the post and late E30's.

Bodies are all mostly the same unless you have 4 door or 2 door.

Just the weight of the engine will effect any difference's in the handling on a standard car.

I think the engine is the only change because the e30 structure can cope with larger engines.

With the lower rear arches I think the late e30's are a bit heavier but I don't think the difference is much. I once heard that the late e30 also is a bit stiffer but that's a different story.

Weight of vehicles have changed over the years, ie a 318i has gone from 1065Kg to 1090Kg through its production life.

For a MAX GROSS weight limit add 460Kg for saloons, 400Kg for Convertible & 480Kg for tourers.

All figures approximate, as taken from variuos BMW Handbooks.
