On the metal tag you checked to get those numbers you mention above there will be an s followed by the ratio ie s3.64, if it doesnt say this, its not a slipper. To check for sure jack up one wheel, put it in gear and try and turn the wheel by hand, if it turns easily, its a standard open diff. HTH.

Of course, sorry about that, brain seems to be rotting away today. To be honest if there isn't an 'S' on the tag, it wont be an LSD, unless the tag has been swapped over (highly unlikely). However, this is someone elses advice on checking the diff internally;

You can remove the rear cover, undo the 6 or 8 bolts holding the rear cover on,
when you look in there will be a large toothed gear to one side in both type's, the difference between
the two will be in an open/non LSD diff you will be able to see a lot more gears inside this cover
(2, 3 or 4 depending on what position it's in) in a LSD you will only be able to see the large toothed gear
and what looks like a dark grey/black cylinder attached at 90 degrees to the large gear.
This cylinder is what houses the LSD mechanism.

Hi Cubic,

for info the differential ratio, I have on my B3 2.7, which is basically mechanically the same as the C2 2.7, is a 3.73.

The automatic should be 4.10 originally.

cheers / Pierre
