As the head 'liar' involved in this I really appreciate your support.
It means a lot that BMW owners can look after each other when it comes to it!

Great new Killian......sounds a bit bitter but I'd get rid of anything that was even remotely mentioning the club. I only joined the club after finding the forum so see what they say when it hits them where it hurts.

Given the propoganda going around at the moment branding me as an uncooperative liar, etc. do you think they will say if it hurts them?

Ditto, oh well lets hope the discounts make up for it.Steviec wrote:I actually feel gutted that I joined the club a few weeks ago. If I had known what there attitute was like before hand, I wouldnt have bothered.

The only saving grace for me (and one of the main reasons for joining the club) is the discount at BMW and GSF, so I will make my money back.
Not sure if its just my dodgy work pc, but I cant get the new forum to load up?

Just registered over there, I'm not sure how much I'll use it given how much the zone rocks but take it as a vote of support and my small
to the individuals that forced you into this course of action.
Good Luck with it

All support is welcomed.
Again thanks to threads like these, people have quickly found out about the switch.

Fair enough, but I think I will. I'll be damned if I miss out on the benefits of membership just because the committee & cronies want to run it like a golf club.davetouring wrote:I joined the club last year, won't be renewing!
I hope some of the more "disreputable" members stay on to be a thorn in the committee's side too.

First I knew of all this was when I couldn't get the the forum to load!
Just received a letter from the Car Club "Board of Directors" explaining the outcome of a meeting last Sunday & the "differences of opinion" that ensued. It looks like we'll be having 2 forums instead of one.
The part of the letter that got my attention was the mention of "breakaway groups/meetings in established Regions". I was a member & treasurer of the BMW Club North East before I joined the BMWCCGB because the CCGB's idea of the North East was somewhere down by the Wash. Now we're supposed to be affiliated to the CCGB I'm not sure how this affects us.
I joined the CCGB last year so I could show my car at Gaydon. I'm intending to go this year & I can guess what the topic of conversation will be!
See you all on the (55 degrees) North East stand!

Gaydon will be fun!
I'm not renewing cos I don't have a BMW anymore! But I'm not impressed with this situation, although it's completely unrelated. With it being a BMW club there's always going to be some pretentiousness! I'm sorry, but it's so true.
I get discount at BMW anyway, which I was grateful for, but the E30zone meets were better than BMWCC ones anyway....

that got my attention too Andy, what they consider the north east is huge, it covers from the scottish border, right down to and including leicster i think, thats over half of englands length, and yet they expect no one to form breakaway clubs and have unoffical meets, bollox to that, i don't remember agreeing or being told that before parting with 35 quidAndyTouring wrote: The part of the letter that got my attention was the mention of "breakaway groups/meetings in established Regions". It's a simple issue.
I pay CCGB £35 a year for being a member of their club, ie. I'm a customer.
Whatever else I do is my business.
End of story. Told you it was simple!
Quite why they're getting bent out of shape over a few postings for meets is beyond me.
We'll see what happens . . .

I've been a member of the Car Club forum for ages, although IIRC I've only posted a couple of times.
I had a look around there most days and had been planning on shelling-out the £35. I spent an hour reading the 10 page (I think) thread about the disagreement the other night. They can go swivel now. The attitude stinks.
