SI Board Question ?

hI Guys,

I know the SI board works the dash lights but what else does it do or work ? what i am asking is how would i know if my SI Board has given up on me ?

Rev counter plays up.....well mine did, and when I removed the SI board completely to replace it the rev counter didnt work at all!!

cheers that spot on my rev counter was playing up and the dash lights werent working that must be it thanks for that mate,

Can affect the temp gauge as well IIRC. Nothing to do with the dash lights though.

i thought the lights for the dash were attached to the SI Board ???

Only lights on the SI board are the sevice LEDs and the three small lamps for oil service, the clock symbol and inspection.

when i put on my lights the dash doesnt light up ? i have got an SI board sorted from Dan on here whos breaking a 325i ? my hazzard warning light light switch etc lights up but the dash is in complete darkness ??? what can this be ? i need to know as i have a guy comming to look at it soon and if it needs a part or two i have to know in advance thanks?

The obvious amswer is the two bulbs are blown.
Power for the cluster lights goes in on pin 23 of the white connector (grey/red), and the earth connection comes out on pin 24 (brown/white).
This brown/white wire is earthed through the rotary brightness control in the lighting switch.
