Hi Guys

Can anyone shed any light on this one for me, tried fitting my mtec 1 rear valance last night and got it on but wasnt happy with it so in paddy pulled it back off

The problems im having i the clips holding the rubber and valance on seem really tight this may be caused due to me using the wrong clips, i made the holes bit bigger to fit the vanlance, has anyone else done this or should i get the nut and bolt slide fixings??

Thanks

Neil

I dot know if it will make much of a difference as the rubber round the valance still isnt going to sit flush, gonna have to pack it out a bit

I fitted mine a month back ... wasn't difficult but had to "undo" it and move the bumper strip about 1mm !!
You using the right sliding bolts ?
And then the upper rubber strip just fits in nice and snug before you tighten the bolts.
Was a tight fit round the arches but then it's supposed to be.

Make sure you have the mounting brackets on the bumper .. not on the car.
I just lay the bumper on my workbench ... valance on top .. then the rubber strip.
Bolt it all up but don't tighten too much ... place the thin rubber strip between the chrome and the top of the rubber strip. Tighten nuts up.
Attach to car and then mark holes in wheel arches ... remove and drill holes. Put some primer or a dab of hammerite on the hole edges.
Then re-fit the whole thing and tighten up. I used self tappers with black heads in the wheel arches because rivets sounded a bit too permanent.
I had to persuade the ends round the arches but it looks good.
Then the end caps ... (hope you have the mtech ones as the standard don't fit) ... just line 'em up and screw into place. Think you screw them in from behind the arch !! Can't remember.

Hope it helps.
If you want ... when I get home I can send you a copy of the proper instructions.

Rubber strip is a good little addition, only cost about a fiver, eliminates the gap between plastic bump strip and the metal bumper. If you come to aces on monday you'll see it on my car.

Don't know if this is clear enough ...
But it would not look as good without the thin rubber strip.
The mail is on the way ... taking a while to go through.

Think it's a must that the left hand towing eye is removed.

It's a BMW ... don't need a towing eye !!!

Did you get the towing eye extensions for front and back ??
I bought one for the back ... primed it, sprayed it the right colour ... 5 coats of laquer ... still could quite get it to poke through the hole properly (ohhh errr missus!).
So it lives in it's burgundy glory in the shed now.
